Pat Leighton is Bristol born and bred, having been educated at Merrywood Grammar School for Girls, Bristol and York University. Pat has sung with Bristol Cabot Choir and Unity Singers and has taken solo roles with both choirs. In 2009 she undertook a leading role as Ruth the Pirate Maid with the former in a concert performance of Pirates of Penzance. She has also performed with Weston-super-Mare Operatic Society in productions of Merrie England and the King and I. In July 2010 she gave her debut recital, together with Martin Le Poidevin, in Barrow Gurney Church, North Somerset. She has been mezzo soloist for Bach’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Mass in C and Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise, with Bristol Cabot Choir. Her other solo performances include Messiah, Fauré’s Requiem, Gluck’s “O del mio dolce ardor”, Puccini’s “O mio babbino caro”, Bizet’s “Habanera”, Schubert’s “Ave Maria”, Vivaldi’s “Domine Deus”, to mention but a few. She has recently completed a Performance Diploma (ARSM) with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music
