Arnos Vale – 22nd May

Rescheduled!

Pocket Opera’s comeback concert will be at Arnos Vale on May 22nd. Please come and join us for it! (This is the performance rescheduled from 20th March 2022, which was cancelled due to Covid).

As usual, our programme will be in two halves. The first half will contain music by female composers from all ages and times. From plainsong to modern theatre, we explore the songs of composers such as Amy Beach, Alma Mahler, Madeleine Dring and many others.

The second half will be a new imagining of a Mozart opera, using arias and ensembles from his most famous stage works.

More details on the programme:

Madeleine Dring My True-love hath my heart; Love is a sickness

Alma Mahler Die Stille Stadt

Amy Beach Ah, Love But a Day; The Year’s at the Spring

Pauline Viardot Fleur desséchée

Plus folksong, plainsong and Broadway!

That’s in the first half. In the second half, enjoy some Mozart smash hits:

Dove sono, Non piú andrai, Voi che sapete, Cinque dieci, O Isis und Osiris and ensembles including our traditional Soave sia il vento, all put together in a new way. Find out exactly where Cherubino went wrong!
